His kunyah (teknonym) is Abū'l-Qāsim al-Daqqāq. He is known as Ibn Ḥanīfa (son of Ḥanīfa).
Allāmah Qāḍī Abū Yaʿlā b. Farrā said: “Ḥanīfa is the name of his grandfather. There have also been narrations that render it as Khalīfa instead of Ḥanīfa. He heard ḥadīth through a strong samāʿ (hearing) chain. al-Azharī also narrated from his kenes (private gatherings). He was thiqa (reliable), trustworthy, and a sayyid (man of noble character) with good akhlāq (morals). We have not seen anyone like him.”
