ʿUtbah b. ʿAbdullah b. Mūsā b. ʿAbdullah Abū's-Saʿīb. He is from the Heneda tribe and belongs to the Shāfiʿī madhhab. He served as a qāḍī (judge). He was a virtuous and eminent person. He used to confuse some matters. After his death, a man saw him in a dream and asked him: "How did Allah treat you?" He gave the following answer: "My Lord forgave me and pardoned me for the matters I confused and sent me to Paradise. Then He said to me: 'I have vowed not to punish those who die in their eighties.'"
This person is the first individual from the Shāfiʿīs to serve as the chief qāḍī (qāḍī al-quḍāt) of Baghdad. And Allah knows best.
