Wāqid b. ʿAbdullāh

The genealogy of this figure is as follows: Wāqid b. ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAbd Manāf b. ʿArīn al-Ḥanzalī al-Yarbūʿī. He was an ally (mutaḥaffik) of Banū ʿAdī b. Kaʿb. He became Muslim before the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) entered Dār al-Arqam, and participated in the Battle of Badr and subsequent expeditions. The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) declared him a brother to Bishr b. Barāʾ b. Maʿrūr. He was the first person killed in the path of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, at Batn Nahla, together with ʿAbdullāh b. Jaḥsh. At that time, ʿAmr b. Ḥadramī was also killed. Wāqid died during the caliphate of ʿUmar.
