Vizier Ibn Hanna

ʿAlī b. Muḥammad b. Sulaym b. ʿAbd Allāh al-Ṣāḥib Bahāʾ al-Dīn Abū'l-Ḥasan b. Ḥannā. He was a vizier in Egypt. First, he served as vizier to Malik Zahir, and then to Malik Zahir's son Said, until he passed away at the end of the month of Dhu'l-Qaʿda of this year. He was a diligent man. He possessed sound judgment and determination. He was prudent. In the Zahiri state, he held authority; affairs would not proceed without his opinion and command. He was distinguished by his kindness and superiority toward the emirs and others. Poets praised him. His son, Taj al-Din, was also a vizier who was present in the company of the sultan and did not leave his side. In the Saidiya state, that is, during the time of Sultan Said, his wealth was confiscated.
