Yusuf b. Hasan b. Muhammed b. Hasan. His kunyah (teknonym) is Abū'l-Qāsim al-ʿAskarī. He is from the city of Zanjān in Khurāsān. He was born in the year 395 AH. He studied fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) from Abū Isḥāq al-Shīrāzī. He was one of Abū Isḥāq's greatest students. He was an ʿābid (devout worshipper), taqwā-conscious, humble, one who wept much during dhikr (remembrance of God), and devoted himself to worship. In this year, having reached the age of eighty,
he passed away.
