Mesnevî-i Ma‘nevî
3500 Un día, tres mil quinientos profetas le dijeron a Zeyd: “¡Amigo mío, cómo has amanecido?”
3501 [Zeyd]: Como un siervo creyente,
dijo, y luego el profeta le preguntó de nuevo:
“¿Dónde está la señal de que has abierto el lazo de la fe?”
3502 [Zeyd]: Estuve sediento durante el día, y durante la noche, ardiendo por el amor, no pude dormir,
dijo.
3503 Así como el extremo de la lanza atraviesa el metal, así he atravesado el día y la noche.
3504 Allí, todas las naciones y religiones son una sola. Cien mil años son como un solo momento.
3505 [Allí] existe la unidad de la eternidad y la eternidad, pero debido a la pérdida, no hay camino para la mente.
3506 [El profeta]: ¿Dónde está el regalo que se ajusta a la comprensión de este mundo y a la inteligencia de los inteligentes? Llévalo, dijo.
3507 [Zeyd]: Así como las personas ven el cielo, así veo el trono y a los que están junto al trono, dijo.
3508 Delante de mí hay ocho cielos y siete jardines, como un ídolo en el campo.
3509 En la molina, distingo claramente el trigo del centeno, así reconozco a las personas una por una.
3510 Para mí, es tan claro como una serpiente y un pez, quién es de los cielos y quién es extranjero.
3511 “Ese día, algunas caras se púrpuran, otras se blanquean” [versículo] ya se ha revelado sobre este grupo.
3512 Antes de esto, el alma estaba llena de defectos, pero estaba en el útero, oculta de las personas.
3513 Lo malo es malo incluso cuando está en el vientre de la madre; sus condiciones se pueden entender por los síntomas en el cuerpo.
3514 El cuerpo, como una madre, lleva al alma en su vientre. La muerte es el dolor del parto y el temblor. El espejo del corazón, por cierto, no tiene límites.
3489 El corazón es fuego o es fuego, y así el intelecto aquí se calla o se desvía.
3490 Cada reflejo de una imagen se imprime para siempre, ya sea contado o incontable, en ningún lugar fuera del corazón.
3491 Cada nueva imagen reflejada en el corazón aparece sin velo hasta el fin de los tiempos.
3492 Los que iluminan los corazones han escapado del color y del olor; constantemente contemplan una belleza sin interrupción.
3493 Han dejado atrás la forma y la cáscara del conocimiento, y han erigido el estandarte de la fe basada en la visión (ayne’l-yakin).
3494 La mente ha partido, ha alcanzado la luz, y ha encontrado la fuente y el océano de la familiaridad.
3495 Este grupo, incluso ante la muerte, de la que todos huyen, se ríe con desdén.
3496 Nadie puede superar su corazón; el daño afecta a la perla, no al marfil.
3497 Aunque hayan abandonado la jurisprudencia y la ciencia, han aceptado la pobreza.
3498 Mientras brillan los hilos de los ocho cielos, han encontrado en sus corazones los grabados de esos hilos.
3499 Los que se sientan en el asiento de la verdad [de Allah], son más altos que el trono, el arco y el vacío.
El profeta -que la paz y la bendición de Allah estén sobre él- le pregunta a Zeyd: “¿Cómo estás hoy, cómo te has levantado?” y Zeyd responde: “He amanecido como un creyente, oh mensajero de Allah”
Primer Libro
3515 Todos los seres pasados esperan cómo nacerá ese alma feliz.
3516 Los negros dicen: “Ese ya es nuestro”, y los blancos dicen: “Ese es muy hermoso”.
3517 Cuando ese alma nace en el mundo de la vida y la generosidad, ya no queda diferencias entre blanco y negro.
3518 El negro es llevado por los negros, y el blanco es llevado por los blancos.
3519 Pero hasta que no nazca, comprender lo que es es una tarea difícil para el mundo; pocos son los que conocen lo que no ha nacido.
3520 El que mira con la luz de Allah es otro; porque hay un camino dentro de su piel.
3521 El agua del río Erlik es originalmente blanca y agradable, pero la reflexión en el alma del rumi y el habes es diferente.
3522 “La más hermosa creación” [versículo] le da color, y así lleva a la mitad de las personas al “más bajo nivel”.
3523 Esta palabra no tiene fin. Tú, vuelve a montar a tu caballo, y no te quedes atrás en el grupo de caravanas.
3524 “Ese día, algunas caras se púrpuran, otras se blanquean” [versículo], en ese grupo, el turco y el hindú se distinguen.
3525 El hindú y el turco no se distinguen en el vientre de la madre, pero al nacer, se ve si es débil o fuerte.
3526 [Zeyd]: Veo claramente a todos, hombres y mujeres, como en el día del juicio, dijo.
3527 “¿Debo hablar ahora o debo contener mi respiración y callar?” dijo Mustafa, mordiéndose el labio.
3528 [Zeyd]: “¡Oh mensajero de Allah! ¿Debo revelar el secreto de la resurrección y provocar el juicio en la tierra hoy?” dijo.
3529 Permíteme rasgar los velos, para que mi esencia brille como el sol.
3530 Que el sol se detenga por mi cara; que muestre el higo y el sauce.
3531 Reveal the secret of the Day of Judgment, and show the pure gold beneath the heart.
3532 Show the people on the left with their hands cut off, and show them in the color of disbelief.
3533 Open seven holes of hypocrisy under the light of the moon that never wanes or waxes.
3534 Show the rags of the robbers; hear the drums of the prophets and the cries of the shepherds.
3535 Show the hell, the paradise, and the bridge between them to the eyes of the disbelievers.
3536 Show the Kevser pool in its fullness, let the water strike their faces, and let the sound reach their ears.
3537 Show those who are circling around it in thirst, now clearly.
3538 Their shoulders are against mine, their whispers are in my ears.
3539 The people of paradise, in front of my eyes, embrace each other eagerly.
3540 They visit each other’s hands, and their lips are covered with kisses.
3541 This ear of mine has become deaf from the cries of the wicked, from the wails of the unfortunate.
3542 These are only signs; I have more to say, but I fear to hurt the prophet.
3543 [Zeyd] spoke in such a way, completely lost and ruined. The prophet grabbed his collar and bent him.
3544 Return to yourself, pull your reins, your horse is very restless, [he said]. “Allah does not fear” [the opposite] struck, and the shame went away.
3545 The mirror has come out of its case. How can the mirror and the scale speak against each other?
3546 Does the mirror and the scale ever hold their breath, fearing that one will be shamed or embarrassed?
Mesnevî-i Ma‘nevî
3547 Even if you serve the mirror and the scale for two hundred years, they are still high standards.
3548 Keep the truth for me; show the excess, but do not show the deficiency [even if you say so].
3549 They say to you: Do not make fun of your beard and mustache; the mirror and the scale will give advice with trickery after that.
3550 Because Allah has elevated us so that we can know and recognize the truth.
3551 Oh young man! If we did not have this quality, what value would we have? How could we be a decoration on the faces of the good?
3552 But you, wrap the mirror in a goat skin, because your chest has turned to Sinai due to your ascension.
3553 [Zeyd]: “The sun of Allah, the sun of eternity, can it ever fit into a chair?” he said.
3554 Whether it is the trickery and order, or the chair is torn, before it, neither madness nor reason remains.
3555 [47b] [The prophet]: If you put a finger on the eye of a person, you will see the world without the sun, he said.
3556 A single tip of a finger is a curtain for the moon; this is the proof of the covering of this sultan.
3557 When the world is covered by a single point, the sun is also stopped due to a flicker.
3558 Close your mouth and look into the bottom of the sea. Allah has made the sea bow to the rule of mankind.
3559 Rivers like Salsabil and Zanjabil are also under the rule of the noble ones of paradise.
3560 The four rivers of paradise are under our rule. [But] this is not due to our power, but due to the command of Allah.
3561 Magic, as it is, is done according to the will of the magicians; wherever we want, we can send it.
3562 These two eyes, which flow constantly, are like the springs of the heart, under the command of the heart.
3563 [The heart] wants the eyes to go towards poison and snakes; or to go towards taking lessons.
3564 [The heart] wants the eyes to go towards what is felt; or to go towards what is hidden.
3565 [The heart] wants the eyes to go towards the whole; or to remain trapped in the parts.
3566 Like the water in the pipe, each of the five senses flows according to the desire and command of the heart.
3567 Whenever the heart shows them something, the five senses gather their skirts and go that way.
3568 The hand and the foot, like the staff in the hand of Musa, are clearly under the command of the heart.
3569 If the heart wants, the foot starts to dance with that desire; or it runs from deficiency to excess.
3570 If the heart wants, the hand enters into counting with the fingers or writes a book.
3571 The hand remains in a hidden hand; that hidden hand is inside, and the body is outside.
3572 [The heart] wants that hidden hand to cut a snake for the enemy; or to help the friend or the saint.
3573 [The heart] wants it to be a scoop for food; or to be a hundred batman of grain.
3574 What is the heart saying to all this? What strange bond, what strange hidden cause?
3575 Or has the heart found the seal of Solomon, and thus drawn the reins of the five senses?
3576 The five external senses are under its command; the five internal senses are its servants.
3577 The ten senses, the seven limbs, and the others not yet mentioned, count them.
3578 Oh heart, if you are as noble as Solomon, rule the jinn with your ring.
3579 If you stay away from trickery and order in this kingdom, those three devils cannot take your ring from you.
Primer Libro
3584 Lokman was a servant who was looked down upon among the servants of his master.
3585 The master sent his servants to the garden to bring fruits for him to relax.
3586 Lokman, among the servants, was like a hidden refuge full of meaning, but with a face as dark as night.
3587 Those servants gathered the fruits and ate them with great eagerness.
3588 They said to their master: Lokman ate them. The master looked at Lokman with a frowning face.
3589 When Lokman asked why his master was angry, he opened his mouth and said:
3590 Master, you are a wicked servant, you will never reach the pleasure of Allah, he said.
3591 Oh generous one! Test us all. Make us drink hot water until we are tired.
3592 Then, make us run in a large field, you on horseback and we on foot.
3593 Then you will see the one who behaves badly, and you will witness the art of Allah who reveals secrets.
3594 The master made the servants drink hot water, and they drank it out of fear.
3595 Then he made them run in the fields. That group ran up and down.
3596 They began to vomit due to exhaustion. The water expelled the fruits from their stomachs.
3597 When Lokman vomited, only pure water came out of him.
3598 [48a] If Lokman’s wisdom is capable of revealing this, what is the wisdom of the Lord of existence?
3599 “On the Day of Judgment, all secrets will be revealed” [verse], your hidden things that you did not want to be known have also been revealed.
3600 All the veils that would disgrace them are torn open when they drink boiling water.
3601 The stone is tested by fire, and the punishment of the disbelievers is also fire.
3602 We have spoken gently to the heart many times, but it did not accept advice.
3603 Only a bad medicine is effective for a bad wound. A dog’s tooth fits a donkey’s head.
3604 “Wicked women are for wicked men” [verse] is a wisdom. The ugly is suitable for the ugly and is a match.
3605 So if you want a certain kind of spouse, go there, become like them, and take on their characteristics and qualities.
3606 If you want light, become suitable for light; if you want to be distant, see yourself and move away.
3607 If you want a way out of this ruined prison, do not take from the friend, prostrate yourself, and approach.
3580 From now on, your name will hold the world; two worlds, like your body, will be under your rule.
3581 If Satan takes your ring from your hand, your kingship will end, and your fortune will die.
3582 Oh servants! Until the day of calling and crying, you will keep saying “Wah, wah” without stopping.
3583 If you keep denying your own trickery, how will you save your soul from the mirror and the scale?
The servants and the companions of the gate accusing Lokman of having eaten the fruits he brought

3608 This speech has no end, Zeyd, rise up and strike the ship of Burak with your words.
3609 When you speak, you tear open the veils of the hidden.
3610 Allah has desired a period of hiddenness; drive away this drummer and close the road.
3611 Do not ride your horse fully, pull your reins, it is better to remain hidden. It is better for everyone to be happy according to their own opinion.
3612 Allah wants even those who have lost hope in Him to not turn their faces away from this worship.
3613 He also wants them to be honored with hope, and to run after that hope for a few days.
3614 He wants His mercy to shine on everyone, both good and bad, due to the general nature of His mercy.
3615 Allah wants every mind and every prisoner to fear and hope for Him.
3616 This hope and fear should develop behind the veil, so the veil is beneath it.
3617 If you tear the veil, where will hope and fear remain? The hidden will be revealed in all its glory.
3618 A young man by the riverbank said: “This fisherman must be our Solomon” and was seized by this thought.
3619 If he is, why is he alone and hidden? If he is not, what is this face that resembles Solomon?
3620 Solomon remained in this thought and was confused until he became an independent sultan.
3621 Satan left, fled from his kingdom and throne; the sword of his fortune spilled Satan’s blood.
3622 When the ring was put back on his finger, the army of jinn and spirits gathered.
3623 People came to see him, and among them was the young man who had fallen into that thought.
3624 When he saw the ring on Solomon’s finger, his thought and assumption completely vanished.
3625 A vision occurs when the matter is secret and hidden; this investigation is for things unseen.
3626 The imagination of the hidden grows in the heart, but when it appears, the imagination disappears.
3627 The sky cannot shine without light, but the dark earth does not stop growing green.
3628 I need “those who believe in the hidden” [verse], so I have closed the window of this temporary house for them.
3629 How can I tear open the skies and reveal them? How can I say, “Can you see a crack there?”
3630 As long as we search in the darkness, everyone turns their face away.
3631 Matters go backwards for a while; the thief drags the guard to the gallows.
3632 Thus, many sultans and many noble people become servants of their own servants for a while.
3633 Servitude is beautiful and charming when the master is not present; it is pleasant to protect and watch the hidden when the master is away.
3634 Where is the one who praises the sultan in his presence, and where is the one who is ashamed of him in his absence?
3635 A commander in a distant part of the country, far from the shadow of the sultan and the sultanate,
3636 Protects the fortress from enemies and does not sell it for a cheap price,
3637 If he shows loyalty in the borderlands when the sultan is not there, as if he were there,

3656 The prophet said: My companions are like stars, they are light for travelers and stones for Satan.
3657 If every person had an eye and power to receive light from the sun in the sky,
3658 What need would there be for the star, which is a proof of the sun’s light, oh wretched person!
3659 The moon says to the cloud, the earth, and the shadow: “I am a human, but I am being revealed to me.”
3660 I was darkness in creation, but the sun’s revelation gave me this light.
3661 I am dark compared to the sun, but I have light for the darkness of the souls.
3662 I am weak so that you can endure; because you are not the brilliant sun.
3663 I have mixed with honey like vinegar and found a way to the disease in the lungs.
3664 Oh one who has fallen ill! When you are cured of the illness, leave the vinegar and eat honey.
3665 When the heart’s throne is purified from desires and becomes pure, see the verse: “The Most Merciful has ascended to the throne.”
3666 When this bond is found, Allah rules over the hearts without intermediaries.
3667 This speech has no end, where is Zeyd? I should give him advice not to be a liar.
3638 That commander is better than those who give their lives in the presence of the sultan.
3639 Therefore, even protecting a single grain in the sultan’s absence is better than doing ten thousand things in his presence.
3640 Servitude and faith are now worthy of praise; they are rejected to appear after death.
3641 Since it is better not to be seen, hidden, or covered, close your lips, and silence is better.
3642 Oh brother, withdraw from speech. Allah reveals His knowledge Himself in His presence.
3643 The sun itself is enough as a witness. What is the greatest witness? Allah.
3644 I say that in the Quran, Allah, the angels, and the wise are all mentioned together.
3645 Allah, the angels, and the wise only acknowledge that He is the eternal Lord.
3646 When Allah testifies, who can be a witness with Him?
3647 Because the ruined eyes and hearts cannot withstand the existence and brilliance of the sun.
3648 Like the bat, which gives up hope and cannot withstand the light of the sun.
3649 Therefore, know that the sun, which we see in the sky, is our friend like the angels.
3650 We found this light from the one single sun, and we reflected it to the weak like his vicegerent.
3651 Each angel has a maturity, light, and value like the new moon, the three-day moon, or the full moon.
3652 Each angel has wings of three or four lights, according to their rank.
3653 Their wings are like the wings of human intellect, but there is a great difference between them.
3654 Therefore, each person’s equal in goodness and evil is the angel who resembles them.
3655 Since the blind eye cannot withstand the sun’s existence and brilliance, the star becomes a lamp for him, and thus he finds his way.
The prophet -may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him- tells Zeyd: “Do not speak this secret more clearly, obey the command”
