Āvev is interpreted in two ways:

1. Āvev is used in the sense of joining / adding; as in the following verses:

Those who added [āvev] (that is, they joined the Prophet and the emigrants to themselves) and helped {offered him help}... (al-Anfāl 8:72)

Yet He joined you [āwākum] {that is, He joined you to Medina}. (al-Anfāl 8:26)

2. Aveu is used in the sense of arriving and seeking refuge; as in the following verses:

When we arrived at and sought refuge [awaynā] at the rock... (al-Kahf 18:63)

So take refuge in the cave [fa'vū]! (al-Kahf 18:16)
