al-Hars is interpreted in four ways:
1. al-Hars is used in its literal sense of "harvest/crop/field"; as in the following verses:
And the hars {that is, the grain and similar crops sown by people} has not been watered. (al-Baqara 2:71)
He destroys the hars {that is, the grain and similar crops eaten by people and other living beings}. (al-Baqara 2:205)
2. The word hars is used in the sense of reward (thawāb); as in the following verse:
Whoever desires the hars of the Hereafter {that is, being among the righteous (abrār) and seeking the reward [recompense] of the Hereafter through righteous deeds}, We increase for him his hars {that is, his reward}. But whoever desires the hars of this world (that is, being among the wicked (fujjār) and seeking the reward [recompense] of this world through righteous deeds), We grant him thereof, but he will have no share in the Hereafter. (al-Shūrā 42:20)
3. By al-Hars, the private parts of women/the place where the child is born is meant; as in the following verse:
Your wives are a hars for you {that is, women's private parts are like a field for the child / are in the position of a field}. So approach your hars {that is, their private parts} as you wish (that is, as Allah has commanded, from the place where the child is born / from the private part, whenever and however you wish: whether face-to-face, from behind, standing, or kneeling, you may have sexual relations with them). (al-Baqara 2:223)
