Vāzire is interpreted in three ways:
1. The word vāzire means carrier or bearer, as in the following verses:
No vāzire (that is, carrier or bearer) will bear the vizr (that is, another person's sin) of another. (al-Zumar 39:7)
A similar expression is also found in the surahs al-Najm and Fāṭir.
Behold, how evil is their vizr (that is, the burden they have taken upon themselves)! (al-Anʿām 6:31)
A similar verse is also found in the surah al-Naḥl.
2. Wazīr is used in the sense of 'helper' or 'assistant', as in the following verses:
Then He strengthened him [fa-āzarahu] (that is, He helped him / acted as his helper). (al-Fatḥ 48:29)
Appoint for me from my family a wazīr (that is, a helper)! (Ṭā-Hā 20:29)
Strengthen my back with him [ushdud bihi azrī; that is, ushdud bihi ʿawnī: increase my strength with his help]. (Ṭā-Hā 20:31)
3. Vizr is used as a noun meaning 'sin', as in the following verse:
On the Day of Resurrection, in addition to bearing their own awzār/vizr (that is, their sins), they will also bear a portion of the awzār/vizr (that is, the sins) of those whom they misled without knowledge. (al-Naḥl 16:25)
