abādila (Sufism Glossary)

Abādila are those who possess the manifestations of the Divine Names (isim tecellileri). When one of the Most High Allah's Names is actualized within them, and they become characterized by the attribute that is the ḥaqīqa (inner reality) of that Name, then, by witnessing the lordship (rubūbiyya) of that Name and performing ʿubūdiyya (servitude) toward it, they are ascribed to that Name by nisba (spiritual affiliation). Their servitude (ʿubūdiyya) to the Real (al-Ḥaqq) is especially due to the fact that this Name is present in them in a perfect sense in terms of rubūbiyya (lordship). For example, one is called ʿAbd al-Razzāq, another ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz, another ʿAbd al-Munʿim, etc. (That is, these servants have become loci for Allah's Names al-Razzāq, al-ʿAzīz, and al-Munʿim.)
