ʿAbd-i Mālikü'l-Mülk is the person who witnesses Allah’s sovereignty over His dominion. He sees himself as a pure possession among Allah’s possessions. His ʿubūdiyya (servitude) is realized so that he may set aside everything he possesses as ṣāḥib (owner) and occupy himself with servitude to his Master. In return, Allah makes him a manifestation of the Name Mālikü'l-Mülk (the Owner of Sovereignty). Thus, nothing can possess him that would distract him from his Lord. He is freed from material attachment by being mālik (possessor) not through his lower self (nafs), but through Allah. He is truly a servant of Allah. (Kāshānī, 126; Jāmiʿ, 12)
