ʿAbd al-ʿAẓīm (Sufism Glossary)

ʿAbd al-ʿAẓīm is the one upon whom the manifestation (tajallī) of the Majesty (ʿaẓama) of the Real (al-Ḥaqq) occurs. Allah, for the sake of His Majesty, makes such a person extremely humble. Allah magnifies him in the eyes of His servants, elevates his remembrance (dhikr) among people, and thus people show him hurmat (reverence); they respect him because of the appearance of the traces of Divine Majesty upon his outward being.
