ʿAbd al-Muntaqim is the one whom Allah constantly supports among His servants in the matter of enforcing legitimate boundaries. Such a person does not show mercy or leniency in this regard. Allah says: "Let not pity for them detain you concerning Allah's religion." (al-Kāshānī, 125)
ʿAbd al-Muntaqim is the one who is excessive in every kind of retribution against the enemies of Allah, who praises no servant except the one who takes vengeance for Allah Most High, who strives to guide His enemies himself, and who, when they commit maʿṣiyya (disobedience) or, regarding the matters He has enjoined, abandon obedience in opposition to what He has imposed, immediately takes vengeance upon them. He is the one who, for the sake of Allah and His religion, takes vengeance from every wicked and corrupt person to the extent of his ability. (Jāmiʿ, 12)
