ʿAbd al-Wakīl is the one who, due to the veil over their eyes, sees Allah—the Real (al-Ḥaqq)—as the agent behind every action attributed to themselves by those who ascribe nisba (spiritual connection), but perceives this agency in the form of causes. However, causes are in reality without true efficacy. Such a person appoints as their agent (wakīl) the One upon whom they place tawakkul (reliance upon God) in their affairs, and is content with Him as Wakīl. (Kāshānī, 119; Jāmiʿ, 10)
