ʿĀfiyya (well-being) is of three kinds: The ʿāfiyya of the common people is that the tongue is moistened with the dhikr (remembrance of God) of Allah and is not occupied with the dhikr of anything other than Him. The ʿāfiyya of the elect (khawāṣṣ) is that their bodies are engaged in service not to anyone else, but solely to Allah. The ʿāfiyya of the elect of the elect (akhass al-khawāṣṣ) is that their himma (aspiration/thought) is not with anyone other than Allah (that they think of no one but Allah). (Jāmiʿ, 61)
