Ahadiyyat al-Dhāt (the oneness of the Divine Essence) is, from pre-eternity, in occultation (ghayb), whereas wahidiyyat (the oneness of Divine Attributes) is its manifestation unto post-eternity. The Qadim One (al-Qadīm, the Pre-eternal One) is that which has neither beginning nor end. Subtle point: To act with tawhid (the oneness of God) is to know it; to know it is to act with it. For this reason, whoever knows tawhid acts with it, and whoever acts with it knows it. (Kavânin, 5)
