falāmat al-ʿulamāʾ al-ākhira; ʿālim (scholar) and ʿilm (knowledge); āmir bi-l-maʿrūf wa nāhī ʿani-l-munkar (one who enjoins good and forbids wrong); jāhil (ignorant); mardūdūn (the rejected); ʿulamāʾ al-ghāfilīn (heedless scholars)
If the jāhil (ignorant person) were to know the blessings that Allah would grant him for abandoning the ihsan (spiritual excellence) that Allah has given him and the adornments and bounties of the dunya (world), he would desire the station (maqām) he would attain, and he would certainly understand that this station is beautiful, sweet, joyful, and pleasing. For at that time, he would have attained his desire and received what he wanted from his Lord. Thus, he would be saved from the distressing boredom brought by the dunya attained through anxious greed, from the trap of seeking, from the occupations that hearts long to reach, from the fear of annihilation, from ailments and diseases, calamities, tribulations, disasters, and from the worry of becoming poor by losing those unpleasant things that never leave him.
The heart of a person who does not know this is deprived of the taste of dhikr (remembrance of God) of his Lord, and of intimacy with Him.
