Amed-i maʿnevī (spiritual pillar): As indicated in the verse, "He raised the heavens without visible pillars that you see" (al-Raʿd 13:2), it is that which holds up the heavens. Here, there is an allusion to unseen pillars. This refers to the spirit (rūḥ), heart (qalb), and lower self (nafs) of the cosmos. It is also the ḥaqīqa (inner reality) of the perfect human (insān al-kāmil), which no one but Allah can know. (Kāshānī, 133; Jāmiʿ, 90)
amal/aʿmāl faʿmāl fi'd- darajāt; aʿmāl-i bāṭin; aʿmāl-i birr; aʿmāl-i qulūb; aʿmāl-i ẓāhir; ahl-i tawba; khalq-i ḥasan; manāzil-i aʿmāl; mutaḥābbūn; muḏnibūn; sāʾimūn; dhahāb-i dīnikum
Aʿmāl (deeds) are of varying degrees: First is to serve your Lord, Allah, with joy; then to show reverence to Him; then to offer shukr (gratitude); and then to serve Him with fear. Other deeds are performed with sabr (patient endurance). (Ādāb, 71)
All righteous deeds are of two kinds: those done openly and those done secretly. For someone who cannot correct their intention in secret deeds, it is unlikely that they will correct their intention in public deeds. But one who can correct their intention in public deeds will find it easier to do so in secret deeds. This is the same whether the deed is small or great. If one cannot correct their intention in a small deed, it is unlikely they will do so in a great deed. (Ādāb, 121)
