ankāʾ-yi muġrib (Sufism Glossary)

The concept of ankāʾ-yi muġrib (the Western Phoenix), in technical (istilāḥ) usage, means that which confounds the intellect and thought by its strangeness. It has come into existence, being inscribed upon a unique form that has no equal due to its greatness. This name, by itself, does not possess this quality. It is as if it exists so that it may not perish.
