Naʿīm (blessings) are, and can only be, perpetual. As for ʿadhāb (punishment), it may also be perpetual—which is the punishment of the kuffār (disbelievers)—or it may not be perpetual, which is the punishment of some among the rebellious. (Mishārīq, 61)
