It is among the names that are mutually opposed. For this reason, Iblis was reproached as Allah the Exalted stated: "[Allah] said, 'O Iblis, what prevented you from prostrating to that which I created with My two hands? Were you arrogant [then], or were you [already] among the exalted?'" (Ṣād 38:75). This is because the levels of the Divine Names (asmāʾ, names pertaining to God) are the locus where the levels of necessity (wujūb) and possibility (imkān) are gathered.
One of the Sufis said: The two hands (yadān) are the levels of necessity (wujūb) and possibility (imkān). The Real (al-Ḥaqq) is a more general correspondence than this. In the ḥāl (spiritual state), there are also mutually opposed active names: Jamīl (the Beautiful) and Jalīl (the Majestic), Laṭīf (the Subtle) and Qahhār (the Subduer), Ḍārr (the one who brings harm) and Nāfiʿ (the one who brings benefit). Likewise, there are mutually opposed passive names (names affected by the actions of the active names): Anīs (the companion) and ghāʾib (the absent), rājiʿ (the one possessing hope) and khāʾif (the one possessing fear), muntafiʿ (the one who benefits) and mutaḍarrir (the one who is harmed).
