Jamʿiyya refers to the gathering of attention and the absence of division in the qalb (the heart) during the act of turning away from mā siwā (all that is other than Allah) and orienting oneself towards the exalted Allah. This consists in dispersing thoughts that would preoccupy one with people. (Kāshānī, 41; Jāmiʿ, 80)
Jamʿiyya is accompanied by dhikr (remembrance of God). When dhikr disappears, jamʿiyya also disappears. (Nafahāt, 71)
