Cevâ is the desire of the inner self (bāṭin) and a deeply rooted love that destroys its possessor. In the Tāj, it is said: Cevâ is a fire; it is the intensity of ecstasy (wajd) arising from love or sorrow. When speaking, one says: Ceviye'r-racul (A man was stirred by love or sorrow).
