According to the Sufis, the daraǧāt (degrees) are as follows: The first degree is the Sufi who experiences tajrīd (abstraction). The second degree is the muḥaqqiq (the one who realizes) who experiences the knowledge of waḥda (unity). The third degree is the muqarrab (one brought near). The muqarrab is someone who, by means of a sign, is content with the ayn (essence) of his own ayn in the ayn of the ayn. (Ravza, 606)
