This occurs because, due to the difference within itself, it is no longer identical to the other. This becomes apparent in the definitions of things (yanin).
When buʿd (distance, separation) occurs, the ruling changes. Buʿd arises through accidental qualities (ʿaraḍ, non-essential attributes) such as place, time, definition, quantity, becoming, and color, in situations where these qualities are required. If, between the two entities in question, there is something conceived that cannot possibly be joined together and is in every respect different from one another, then this is the ultimate point of buʿd. There is no being more distant from the world than Allah, for in His Essence there is nothing that can be joined with Him in any way. (Futūḥāt, II, 550-551)
