Fayḍ means that which is in excess of what the bearer can carry. This is explained as follows: a receptacle (maḥall) can only receive as much as it is able to contain. This is the portion and direction that the created being (maḫlūq) can bear. Anything beyond this is the part that the created being cannot carry. Allah lifts that. There is no matter in which the created being does not have a share. Allah also has a share.
