May Allah have mercy on you and illuminate your basīra (spiritual insight)! Know that the ʿālam al-malakūt (malakūt world) sets the ʿālam al-shahāda (shahāda world) in motion, and as one of Allah's ḥikma (wisdoms), it is under His own dominion. This is not because it is inherently deserving of such a status. In the world of shahāda, there arises no stillness, eating, drinking, kalām (speech), or silence. These only issue forth from the world of ghayb (the unseen realm)... According to us, the world of shahāda is, by convention, everything we perceive through sensation (our senses). The world of ghayb, on the other hand, is, by convention, that which is not apparent to sensation (not perceptible by the senses), but which we apprehend through a sharʿī (scripturally-based) report and a rational consideration.
We say: Just as the world of shahāda can be apprehended through the seeing of the eye, so too can the world of ghayb be apprehended through the eye of basīra (spiritual insight). Indeed, just as the eye cannot perceive unless the veils—like dark curtains—are lifted from before it, so too, when the obstacles are removed and what is sensed becomes apparent...
