According to this meaning, it is as if people find tranquility and peace by remembering Him. That is, the deity is the one with whom peace is found. As a matter of fact, the Exalted God has said: "Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest and tranquility." (al-Raʿd 13:28)
Some have said that the original form of this word is veleh, which means the loss of one's mind and becoming bewildered due to losing what one loves. Hearts become bewildered with love for Him, and when He is remembered, they yearn for Him—thus this name was given. It is also said to mean hidden or concealed. For the Arabs, when they are unable to see something after having known it, they call it lâhen. For example, when a bride is veiled, they say lâheti'l-ʿarūs. Thus, Allah is manifest through His lordship, proofs, and signs, but in terms of His true nature, He is hidden from thoughts.
It is also said that this word means Tâhe (He became exalted), and by this is meant that He rose and became elevated. It is also said to mean master, the one who possesses the power of creation. (Gunye, I, 112-113)
Undoubtedly, Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, created the world in pairs so that He alone would be unique in His oneness. Thus, the names Wāḥid (the One) and Fard (the Unique) became established for Allah. In this way, master and servant became distinct from one another. (Tadbīrāt, 107)
