Hafifiyyūn is a community affiliated with Abū ʿAbd Allāh Muḥammad Ḥafīf. Muḥammad Ḥafīf is the greatest master of this group, the most noble of his time and of the preceding generations. He was knowledgeable in both the outward and inward sciences. It is known that he authored works in the field of Sufism (taṣawwuf). His virtues are so well-known that there is no need to mention them. In summary, he was exalted in both spiritual state (ḥāl) and nafs (the lower self); he was one who turned away from the desires of the nafs. (Hujwīrī, 296)

ḥāʾir: The ḥāʾir has a circular movement and rotation around a center. It is the axis around which existence revolves, the Muḥammadan Reality (Ḥaqīqat-i Muḥammadiyya), the cycle of existence. The ḥāʾir revolves around the pole of realities (ḥaqāʾiq)... and so it continues... that is, it continues to revolve and never separates from the pole. For wherever he turns within the circle of existence, he sees the Face of Allah the Exalted, and in every existent he sees that what he seeks is with Him. This is from the people of Allah (ahl Allāh)...
