Hammām (dove) is the maqām (spiritual station) that separates the human latīfa (subtle faculty) from the governance of the dark statue (the body). Thus, sanctification, riḍā (contentment with God's decree), mushāhada (spiritual witnessing), and other divine latīfas and lordly sciences have been made known to it. (Tercümân, 65)
