All the knowledge and maʿrifa (experiential knowledge of God) that are particular to it have been realized in me. In this tawhid (the oneness of God), the intoxication of the moment and the dominance of the ḥāl (spiritual state) reached their utmost limit. I then informed Hazrat-i Khwāja, that is, Shaykh Bāqī Billāh, of certain obstacles I had encountered, by means of a letter. To the letter, I also added the following verses (which are, in fact, a single couplet) filled with the language of intoxication (sekr):

tawhid 1121 Alas

this path is the way of a blind people

our people are the people of disbelievers and deniers

it is the hair and rose-face of that beautiful peri

whether kufr (disbelief) or iman (faith)

both lead to the same path
