Hātem is to completely transcend the spiritual stations (maqāmāt) and to reach the utmost limit of perfection (kamāl). According to this meaning, hātem is of many kinds and forms. (Kāshānī, 159)
Hātem is the one with whom prophethood (nubuwwa) comes to an end... There is also the ending of sainthood (walāya)... (Jāmiʿ, 82)
