Hazrat-i Tarik (the station of the path) is Hazratullah (the Divine Presence). It is not appropriate for a person who has not purified themselves from both outward and inward sins to enter this maqām (spiritual station). Such an entry is akin to a person who, having impurity on their body or clothes, attempts to perform prayer without first removing it or cleansing with water. Even if this person's shaykh is among the greatest awliyāʾ (friends of God), their prayer would be bāṭil (invalid), and without cleansing this impurity, they would not be able to advance even a single step on the path of the people of Allah. (Anwār, I, 53)
