Whoever seeks religion through kalām (scholastic theology)
Has been deemed a heretic, religion and all.
Add nothing to it,
Everything added to religion is forbidden (ḥarām).
The science of kalām is ignorance, without doubt,
With it, the ḥāl (spiritual state) is cast aside.
Religion is only what my Lord has said,
Or the Master of the Universe has conveyed,
His chosen, awaited Messenger—
Upon him be peace from his Lord.
