ʿInāya (divine solicitude) pertains to the initial capacity for the inner, unseen manifestation (bāṭinī, ghaybī tajallī). What is termed pre-eternal ʿināya refers to proceeding upon a prior, antecedent decree. This is alluded to in the following verse: "Give good tidings to those who have a high station of truthfulness with their Lord!" (al-Isrāʾ 17:79). This concerns a person whose inclination from the barzakhī (intermediate) level of his ḥaqīqa (inner reality) towards the level of possibility (imkāniyya) is slight. Indeed, it is possible that he has no inclination at all. For, at the level of ʿamāʾ (the cloud of unknowing), the farther one is from the side of possibility (imkān), the more ʿināya and felicity (saʿāda) are realized. After this, attraction (jadhba) occurs from the side of love (maḥabba) and rulings (aḥkām). The secret of existence (wujūdī sirr) that is nourished according to reality (ḥaqīqa) reaches its origin by the rule of the manifestation of its effect. (Ravza, 265)
The two aspects (wajhān) of ʿināya are the two aspects of hudā (guidance): attraction (jadhba) and spiritual journeying (sulūk). (Kāshānī, 48; Jāmiʿ, 103)
