The servant's separation from everything other than Allah with his secret (sirr), the absence in his spirit of any feeling of reverence for anything other than Him, and not listening to anything from anyone else but Him. The shaykh (Abū Ḥusayn) Nūrī said: "Ittisāl is the unveiling (mukāshafa) of hearts (qalb), the witnessing (mushāhada) of secrets (sirr)."
Hāritha's saying is an example of the unveiling of hearts: "It is as if I see my Lord's Throne clearly before me." An example of the unveiling of secrets is the hadith of the Messenger of God (peace be upon him): "Worship Allah as if you see Him" (Bukhārī, Īmān, 83; Muslim, Īmān, 1) (Taʿarruf, 78).

The servant's deliverance from perceiving the limits of his own existence and seeing his being as joined to the One Being. In this state, he sees that the Divine Breath and the effusion of being (wujūd) from the Real (al-Ḥaqq) come continuously and without interruption, and he subsists by it. (Kāshānī, 24; Jāmiʿ, 75)
