Debūr is a force that calls the nafs (the lower self) to its desires and domination. Since it comes from the corporeal nature, which is the west of the light, it is likened to the debūr wind blowing from the west. Its opposite is qabūl. Qabūl is the sabā wind blowing from the east. It is a force that calls the ruh (the spirit) and its domination. For this reason, the Messenger of God (peace be upon him) said: "I was helped by the sabā. The people of ʿĀd were destroyed by the debūr." (Musnad, I, 223) (Kāshānī, 44)
