Kalem-i alâ refers to the first determinate manifestations (taʿayyun, specification) of the Real (al-Ḥaqq, God) in the loci of appearance of creation. My saying 'upon specification' (temyiz üzere) is for this reason: The creation (khalq) initially has an indeterminate manifestation in the Divine Knowledge (ʿilm-i ilāhī). (Insān, II, 5)
