Kenūd (ingrate) refers, in the context of sharia (sharia—the sacred law), to one who abandons the obligatory acts; in tariqa (tariqa—a Sufi path/order), to one who abandons virtuous deeds; and in ḥaqīqa (ḥaqīqa—inner reality), to one who desires what Allah does not will. This is because such a person, in their desire, enters into contention with Allah and fails to recognize the due of His blessing. (Kāshānī, 70; Jāmiʿ, 93)
