Keşf-i hayâli (imaginative unveiling), or hayâli keşf, occurs through the eye of imagination, not through the eyes that perceive actual things. When the physical eye is closed, that which is unveiled through imagination does not disappear. If it does disappear, it is because you were perceiving it with your physical eye, and your understanding remains fixed at the place where you saw it. This is because the physical eye only sees things in the manner in which they can be seen. (Esfâr, 127)
