Kitāb-i Mubīn (the Manifest Book): In the verse, "There is nothing wet or dry but is [recorded] in the Kitāb-i Mubīn" (al-Anʿām 6:59), what is meant is the Lawḥ-i Maḥfūẓ (the Preserved Tablet). (Kāshānī, 68; Jāmiʿ, 93)
Divine sciences are diffused within the nafs (the lower self); there, letters written on page and tablet have become manifest. These, just as letters exist in the inkwell, are latent within the intellect. In this respect, the intellect is the Umm al-Kitāb (Mother of the Book), while the nafs is the Kitāb-i Mubīn. Likewise, the Qalam-i Aʿlā (the Supreme Pen) is the Umm al-Kitāb, and the Lawḥ-i Maḥfūẓ is the Kitāb-i Mubīn. In this way, Divine Knowledge is the Umm al-Kitāb, and existence in its entirety is the Kitāb-i Mubīn. The Divine Essence is the Umm al-Kitāb, while Divine Knowledge is the Kitāb-i Mubīn. Consider these ishārāt (allusions), grasp the points that concern you, and uncover the secret of destiny! It is Allah who grants hudā (guidance). (Marātib, 22)
