Evidences from the Book (Sufism Glossary)

1- In verse 33 of Sūrat al-Aʿrāf, exalted Allah says:

"Say, 'My Lord has only forbidden immoralities - what is apparent of them and what is concealed - and sin, and oppression without right, and that you associate with Allah that for which He has not sent down authority, and that you say about Allah that which you do not know.'"

2- Allah, the Most High, says in verse 151 of Sūrat al-Anʿām:

"Do not approach immoralities, what is apparent of them and what is concealed." According to the mufassirūn (Qur'anic exegetes), concealed immoralities include rancor, ostentation, envy, hypocrisy, etc.
