The blessing that removes harm is the blessing that distances harmful and corrupt things from a person. This, too, is of two kinds: The first is the blessing found in the nafs (the lower self); it removes harms by keeping you safe from chronic conditions, calamities, and illnesses. The second is the removal of various obstacles related to you, or the removal of things that approach you such as humans, jinn, or predatory animals.
Worldly blessings are also of two kinds: the blessing of tawfiq (divine success) and the blessing of ʿisma (divine protection). The blessing of tawfiq is, first and foremost, Allah granting you success in Islam, then in the Sunnah, and then in obedience. The blessing of ʿisma is Allah protecting you from kufr (disbelief), shirk (associating partners with God), bidʿa (innovation), misguidance, and other sins. (Minhāj, 82)
Your state is either tribulation or blessing. If it is tribulation, you are required to show sabr (patient endurance). This is the lowest level. Above this is riḍā (contentment with God's decree). Then comes muwāfaqa (acting in accordance), and then fanāʾ (annihilation in God) follows. This is for the abdāl (spiritual elect). If it is a blessing, you are required to show shukr (gratitude). (Futūḥ, 128-129)
Takālīf (divine commands and prohibitions) are burdensome and difficult for people. This includes strictly adhering to commands, avoiding prohibitions, showing patience in the face of divine rulings, and showing gratitude when blessings are present. These are four: obedience.
