Mecmaʿu’l-ehvāʾ (the gatherer of desires), is the absolute beauty (mutlaq jamāl) itself. For in desire (hawā, love) there is always a trace of beauty (jamāl). As it has been said:
Even if you take your heart wherever love wishes,
love is only for the first beloved.
The majdhūb (one enraptured by God) Shaybānī also said:
Tomorrow, all of your beauty
will be gathered in your face,
today it is scattered throughout the worlds.
(Kāshānī, 78; Jāmiʿ, 96)
