meded-i vücüdi (vucudi imdad), is the arrival of everything that a contingent being (mumkin) needs for its existence, to friendship (i.e., to union or connection). In this way, its subsistence (baqāʾ) continues. Allah, due to the necessity of His Essence (Zāt) having no creator, grants existence (wujūd) to the contingent being (mumkin) from non-existence by means of the merciful breath (nafas-i raḥmānī). This occurs during chemical decomposition. Chemical decomposition takes place through nourishment and respiration. It is clearly perceived that this happens with the help of air. In inanimate bodies, in the celestial spheres, and in living beings that bear a spirit (rūḥ), the intellect (ʿaql) and the one who prefers (Allah) prefer its existence so that it may continue; observation (mushāhada) judges that every contingent being is brought into existence anew at every moment with a new creation.
