Mehabbet-i münâsebet is to be adorned with the attributes and names of the Beloved (Mahbūb, i.e., Allah, Exalted is He). The love of beauty (jamāl) is a part of beauty itself. As for the love of fusion (imtizāj), we use it as an allusion to customary practices and ascetic exercises (riyāḍa). (Ravza, 333)
Mehdi: The Mahdī is, as indicated by the hadiths, the one who will lead prayer for Jesus (ʿĪsā). It is stated: Sāʿd al-Dīn al-Taftāzānī did not consider it correct for the Imām Mahdī to be someone other than Jesus, because he is the most virtuous and the most suitable to be imām. However, there is no witness (shāhid) or proof for what he presents as the reason for this. For the purpose of the Mahdī leading Jesus in prayer is to show that Jesus will descend not with an independent sharia (sacred law), but in adherence to the sharia of our Prophet. The fact that Jesus, though more virtuous, follows someone from this umma (community) is to indicate his adherence to the Prophet’s sharia, and to show how these two interpretations can be reconciled: Jesus first follows the Mahdī to manifest this purpose, and then, according to the rule that the less virtuous (mafdūl) follows the more virtuous (fāḍil), the Mahdī then follows Jesus, thus combining the two views. (Mešāriq, 207)
