Maḥabba (love), although it is essentially the same as irāda (will), is a particular connection to irāda, just as shahwa (desire) has a specific relation to irāda. Similarly, ʿazm (resolve) is a particular ḥāl (spiritual state) concerning irāda. Hemm (aspiration), niyya (intention), and qaṣd (purpose) are each ḥālāt (spiritual states) of irāda.
