Mekr refers to the successive arrival of blessings despite opposition to divine commands, the persistence of a spiritual state despite poor adab (conduct), and the manifestation of verses (āya) and karāma (a saintly wonder) without any particular circumstance or limitation. (Istilāh, 536; Kāshānī, 88; Jāmiʿ, 99)
The people of God (ahl Allāh) use mekr to mean the successive arrival of blessings despite opposition to divine commands, the persistence of a spiritual state despite poor adab, and the manifestation of verses (āya) and karāma without any particular circumstance or limitation. Know that, according to us, when a servant is provided with knowledge that requires action but also forbids acting upon it, this is a form of mekr pertaining to the servant. The servant is provided with action, but is deprived of ikhlas (sincerity) in that matter. If you see such a thing in yourself, or know that someone else possesses such a trait, understand that whoever possesses such a quality has been deceived by it. (Futūḥāt, TI, 519)
