Melik is a person against whom no opposition can be made regarding his actions. (Hujvīrī, 469)

As accepted among the prominent sages of Babylon, who became renowned for observing the stars and learning their rulings and secrets, as well as among the Chinese who preceded and reached them—those who possessed experience and kashf (unveiling)—the term melik is used because he is granted Mulk (authority).
