The definition of mirāʾ (argumentation) is as follows: Mirāʾ refers to any kind of objection made by exposing the error in another person's statement. This doubt may pertain to the words, the meaning, or the intention of the speaker. Abandoning doubt is achieved by refraining from denial and objection. If what you hear is true, accept it. If it is false or a lie and not related to religion, remain silent. (Iḥyāʾ, III, 145)
